On October 3, 2021, Faezeh Maleki Nia, 22, succumbed to her injuries after sustaining severe burns, allegedly inflicted by her father in Sanandaj. Maleki Nia, seeking to remarry after divorce, faced opposition from her father, who reportedly set her on fire the previous night in the garden toilet using gasoline. The victim's condition was initially reported by her surgeon, Dr. Iman Navabi, on social media, where she disclosed that her father was responsible for her injuries. Despite legal proceedings, Maleki Nia's father, Habib Maleki Nia, was acquitted in court after being released on bail following his arrest.
