On Thursday, November 2, 2023, Matin Shabanian Beshmandoust, a resident of Beshman village near Anzali in Gilan province, succumbed to severe burns in the hospital, inflicted by her husband Pouria Nikbin, citing "honor motives." The young woman, a beautician, had been set on fire by her husband twenty days prior to her death on Saturday, October 14 of the same year. Pouria Nikbin, also from Rasht, lost his life on the same day due to injuries sustained during the incident.
