On June 30, 2023, in the village of Akhkand, Divandarreh county, Kurdistan province, 17-year-old Rozhin. A was killed by her brother using an axe. The aftermath of the incident saw the arrest of both Rozhin's brother and their father. A year prior to her death, Rozhin was involved in a car accident with a boy, leading her father to expel her from their home. She then spent a year in a welfare institution in Sanandaj, only to be brought back home by her father a few weeks before her death. Upon her return, the family faced village and familial backlash, with accusations of dishonor. Rozhin's brother committed the murder using a small axe, known in Kurdish as "Tirsheta," resulting in the immediate arrest of him and their father.
