On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, according to Rokna, a middle-aged woman in Semnan was fatally attacked by her husband with a kitchen knife at their home in an alleged "honor" killing. The accused man took the life of his wife, who later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, in front of their 12-year-old shared child. The daughter described her father as suspicious and prone to arguments and physical assaults against her mother over trivial matters. Following the crime, the accused attempted suicide by consuming pills and was subsequently transferred to a medical center in Tehran.
