On June 30, 2023, according to Etamed Online, a 39-year-old woman in Damavand met a tragic end, stabbed to death by her ex-husband in an act purportedly driven by "honor". Reports indicate that the man's motivation stemmed from his ex-wife's alleged involvement with another man.
During interrogation, it emerged that the ex-husband perceived his ex-wife's supposed affair as a stain on their family's honor, leading him to commit the gruesome deed.
Upon his apprehension, the ex-husband admitted to the crime, confessing, "Following our separation, continued contact revealed intimate photos and videos on her phone, indicating her relationship with another man. Overcome by emotions and alcohol, I fatally stabbed her and buried her in a pit in Damavand. I attempted suicide, but was saved by passersby who alerted emergency services."
Subsequent to the confession, authorities discovered the victim's remains buried in Damavand, subsequently transferred for forensic examination.
Demanding justice, the victim's family has urged the imposition of the death penalty for the accused.
