On February 19, 2024, in Isfahan, 19-year-old Zeynab HoseinKhani was killed by her father in what has been described as an honor killing, involving suffocation and the use of bricks to strike her head. Following his arrest, there is concern that the perpetrator may be released soon due to the absence of a formal complainant and the legal context of the Islamic Republic. Currently, the father, who has expressed no regret for his actions, remains detained. According to reports, the murder was motivated by Zeynab's supposed relationship with a young man. Zeynab's mother passed away ten years prior, and since then, her father has notably limited her and her younger sister Zahra's contact with the outside world, effectively isolating them.
