On July 7, in the village of Ziveh, West Azerbaijan province, a 15-year-old girl named Zilan Eyvazi was shot and killed by her father, marking the ninth reported "honor killing" by father in Iran since March, according to local media. The motive behind the killing was reportedly an SMS message received by the teenager, with some reports suggesting she was targeted after her father discovered her relationship with a boy. Sources cited by Etamad newspaper indicated a history of violent behavior from the father towards Zilan and her siblings, as well as conflicts with other villagers. Zilan's uncle revealed that she had three younger sisters and a brother and had been deprived of education for the past three years.
